enjoy! RAW chocolate Reviewed

Imagine my delight when I discovered Enjoy! RAW chocolate were actually local to me!

Enjoy! was born through a passion for creating Chocolate suitable for chocolate lovers with allergies.

In 2014 husband and wife team, Steph and Chris introduced their RAW chocolate to the world of chocolate lovers, particularly those with allergies!

Chris has suffered with allergies for years and simply could not indulge in the world of Chocolate; the thought alone fills me with fear!

As someone with an intolerance to gluten and dairy (typical when you LOVE chocolate) I was super excited to taste their RAW chocolate offering.

Steph generously sent me 5 of their award winning bars to sample. Here are the reviews!

enjoy! will shortly be introducing a new look. Read my reviews, choose your favourite and take a look at which enjoy! chocolate you can purchase here.

I have to confess I am already familiar with enjoy! 85%, having been bought a bar as a gift, it was actually one of the first RAW dark chocolates I tasted. I was and am still hooked.

What stands out for me with the 85% is the fact the beans are unroasted. enjoy! ferment their beans and they are pressed at a low heat and to me this makes all the difference with a Dark Chocolate. The bitterness disappears and is replaced with a full flavour.

The description enjoy! use ‘intense’ is perfect; but the intensity of the flavour is smooth and gentle at the same time.

Unroasted beans lend themselves to be open to be full of natural flavour, flavours reminiscent of exotic fruits.

An exceptional RAW chocolate that you would be hard pressed to know was free from dairy! Dark chocolate at its flavoursome best and the fact it is suitable for people with allergies is a bonus.

Price always comes into my reviews! RAW chocolate is notoriously more expensive and smaller makers of course do not have the luxury of buying in bulk to obtain better prices.

£1.99 for a bar which should last a couple of sittings and deliver chocolate heaven is worth it in my chocolate loving eyes!

The Full Review

I am not a lover of chocolate with flavours! I like a Dark Chocolate to be pure, untainted by additives and left alone to let all the natural flavours of the Cocao beans come through.

I have grouped orange and Lime together on the basis they are both similar in the taste they offer.

If you like Orange & Lime you will not be disappointed! enjoy! use organic orange and lime oils and subtly blend them with 75% peruvian Dark Chocolate.

The smoothness of the 75% is a treat. As the chocolate melted in my mouth it felt reminiscent of taking a sip of deep, fruity red wine or a slurp of smooth pint of cold guinness. I felt comforted and content.

The orange and lime flavours are however not for me. I almost feel they overpower the chocolate and the chocolate alone is superb. I cannot help but feel the Cocao beans are being abused by the added flavours.

Orange was definitely my preference; memories of selecting the orange chocolate from the Christmas box came flooding back. In a good way!

The Lime however does not work. I feel the citrus of lime just does not sit well with the dark 75% chocolate. I feel like a little more sugar would be welcome AND I never say that about sugar in chocolate.

Overall I LOVE the taste of the 75% dark chocolate, but the citrus notes do not work for me. If you like a zesty twist in your dark chocolate you will be in fruit heaven with these two RAW dark chocolate offerings.

enjoy! Raw Chocolate

75% Organic Raspberry

Chocolate Maker: enjoy! Raw Chocolate, Wiltshire, UK

Percentage: 75%

Taste: 3.5/5

Price: 3/5

Unique Qualities: Dairy, soya & refined sugar free, raw, unroasted, organic raspberries

Cocao Beans: Peruvian

Cost: £1.99 per 41g

The Full Review

As I have said I am not a lover of chocolate with flavours! However, after Dark chocolate raspberries are my next favourite (healthier) food!

enjoy! use freeze dried raspberries, carefully hand stirred with 75% Peruvian perfection.

When you open the gold wrapper you are greeted with a smell of sweetness topped with a nutty cocao sprinkling. It reminded me of walking into an old fashioned sweetshop as a child. Comfort and excitement.

The smoothness of the chocolate immediately tickles your tongue, followed by the subtle sweetness of raspberries. Bite into a square and the chewy softness of the hidden fruit further enhances your fruity experience.

My Dark chocolate loving purist eyes have been opened to ‘added flavours’ with this bar. It is not a bar I would choose to buy as I like Dark chocolate pure and untainted BUT definitely a chocolate worth devouring if your like a little fruit with your dark.

PS The fact the label matched my nail varnish was an added bonus……I know!!!

OK, OK by this time you know I am not a fan of Dark chocolate with additives!! BUT in the name of unbiased reviews.

What chocolate lover does not like chocolate with fruit and nuts. The many well known chocolate makers (purple branding, hint hint) have been producing chocolate with fruit and nuts for years.

Open up any good Christmas chocolate box and be presented with cheap (or dirty chocolate as I call it) covering a hazelnut or brazil nut if your lucky.

enjoy! have taken chocolate with fruit and nut to another level. As I opened the wrapper the smell of almond and raisins started to lead me into temptation and I was actually looking forward to devouring a square.

Unfortunately for me something about this bar of fruit and nut does not work! The raisins were too sour, there were not enough almonds and the 75% Dark Chocolate was almost too flavoursome to carry another two strong flavours. They seemed to battle against each other in some kind of chocolate, fruit and nut war.

The bar itself looks beautiful and you can clearly see the passion and effort that has gone into hand blending the fruit and nuts.

For me the 75% is such a beautiful chocolate, it does not need anyone else to go to the party with, it stands out all by itself.

enjoy! Raw Chocolate

I simply LOVED reviewing enjoy! RAW chocolate, I will forever be an avid fan of their 85% intense Dark Chocolate and although the additive chocolates are not for me, I cannot escape the fact they do indeed taste good – the winning factor for me being the 75% dark chocolate that simply carries the flavours.

Indulge, devour and treat yourself to enjoy! raw chocolates. RAW allergy free chocolate EVERYONE will want to ENJOY.
